| Question:
Every time I masturbate I get a really crushing headache pain like my head's in a vice. It throbbs like my pulse and takes about 15 minutes to go away. Should I stop masturbating? Answer: I'd never advise anyone to give up permanently on masturbation, as I consider it a healthy and even necessary part of a complete adult sex life. However, in this case, it might be a good idea to hold off masturbating until you've consulted a physician. As I'm not a medical doctor, I can only make an educated guess and my guess is that this could possibly be caused by a blood pressure problem. However, only a medial doctor can give you a proper diagnosis so don't take my word for it. Sexologically speaking, there is no sex (genital/reproductive)-related reason why a person would experience headache after orgasm. There are, however, a wide range of other reasons, ranging from medical conditions to emotional ones. So my advice is that you consult a doctor soon (if you are male, a urologist would be a good bet; if female, a gynecologist) and explain the problem. If your doctor gives you a clean bill of health, you may wish to consider therapy or counseling. There is a possibility (slim but real) that other issues--stress, anxiety, guilt, exhaustion, among others--may be the cause. However, from what you describe, I suspect something physical. If so, a good doctor can clear up the problem for you with one prescription. Don't deny yourself the pleasure--just get yourself checked out. Good luck!
